I don't think there is anything wrong with my child's development, so why should he or she have a developmental screening with Imprints?
  • Valuable information – Our staff is able to provide an in-depth look at your child's developmental strengths as well as any growing edges. This way, you know what activities to provide to build on skills that your child has already mastered and how you can encourage other emerging skills in your child.
  • No pressure – Because our staff is trained to provide high-quality, stress-free developmental screenings, children have fun during the screening being administered.
  • Quick response – Imprints is very quick to respond to screening requests. Sometimes when children are screened through other agencies and entities, parents have to wait a long time to receive screenings and screening results. Imprints is usually able to respond to and set up a screening within a week or two. We meet with parents within 3 days after screenings are administered to give results and provide ideas of activities to help children increase strengths in certain areas, whether the children excel, have typical development or delays.

Do I have to bring my child somewhere to have the screening?
We prefer to conduct developmental screenings in a child's preschool, childcare setting or in their home environment. However, we can conduct the screening at our offices if you prefer.

Is there a payment plan for developmental screenings?
Yes, we will accept half of the payment before the screening and the remainder of the balance at the follow-up meeting.

Will you tell my child's teacher about the results of the screening?
Only with your written consent will we share results of the screening with anyone. You decide who we share the results with.

How do you know what developmental screening to use?
Our staff is trained to use several different screening tools. Depending on the child's age, an appropriate screening tool is chosen. This is discussed with the parent to explain the differences and benefits of each screening tool. For example, some parents want to know the developmental age of their child. In this case, we would use the developmental screening tools designed to give us this information.

Why should I do a follow-up home visit?
  • Follow-up home visits (after the screening and meeting with the parent) are completely optional. We do recommend them, as they allow our certified parent educators to expand even more on the results of the screenings and create plans that are customized to your child's interests.
  • Home visits get the whole family involved. They are fun and packed with developmental information.
